STYLE STEALER: SIENNA MILLER

Now, we just love Sienna Miller.

Nicknamed the Boho Princess, she’s renowned for her effortless bohemian style, and she’s one example of a celebrity who pulls off this tricky look extremely well.

Take, for example, her stylish travel outfit. Here she is rockin’ an awesome cape-style coat from Coach with some skinny jeans, some black ankle boots, a beige slouchy leather bag,  and of course, the celeb travel staple – a pair of oversized sunglasses.

Today, we’re recreating her classy look with Artsy Closet’s Sherlock Cape, accessorized to emulate Miss Miller’s smokin’ style:

Pink Martini Collection’s Sherlock Cape will be coming this week to Artsy Closet – so keep your eyes peeled!

SEVEN GREAT BOOTS FOR FALL

The temperature has suddenly dropped, which means only one thing; it’s time to break out the fall wardrobe. Sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves… these are all fall staples that have been neglected for the best part of  a year over the long hot summer.
But now it’s time for them to make their comeback…

One of our fall favourites is undoubtedly winter boots. We love flip-flops and sandals, but having our feet covered and not having to ensure our toes are pedicured to perfection makes for a welcome break.

CASTING CALL

The recent Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon has seen millions of women (and surprisingly men, too) from around the world turn fifty shades of green – with envy.

But what is it about the trilogy that’s created such a buzz, making it the one of the most read books of this year and surpassing sales of rival literary giants including Twilight and Harry Potter?

There’s one simple answer: Mr Grey himself. He is the epitome of every female’s male fantasy, and between the fast cars, luxury apartments and devastatingly good looks – he has us all yearning to find our very own Christian.

There’s been widespread speculation as to which lucky actor will secure the coveted role of the book’s titular character, but we’ve got some ideas of our own.

Let the swooning begin…

1. Hayden Christensen

2. Chris Pine

3. Ryan Phillipe

4. Robert Pattinson

5. Alex Pettyfer

6. Matt Bomer

Who do you think would make the best fit for Christian in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades? If you can think of anyone else who fits the bill, let us know by tweeting us  @ArtsyCloset.

STAR STYLE: Rachel McAdams

After a star-studded week at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, there’s been one look that’s stood out in our minds in terms of that elusive ‘wow’ factor.

The look we’re talking about belongs to Rachel McAdams.

Last week she sauntered on to the red carpet to greet dozens of star struck fans and cinephiles at the premiere of her new flick, ‘To The Wonder’, and the resounding praise from critics and attendees alike has been staggering.

The Canadian-born actress (we have a definite soft spot for her for this very reason) sported a flowing forest green, one-sleeved gown with gathered detailing on the top and a thigh-high slit in the maxi-style skirt. Hot.

She kept her styling simple and let the dress speak for itself, with her hair pulled back in an elegant chignon and her make up fresh and glowing.

The look resulted in her gaining fabulous press from magazines, style columnists and fashion critics worldwide, and the demand for clothing featuring flattering hues of emerald has gone through the roof as a result.

If you’re a fan of Rachel’s TIFF red carpet style, you need not look further than Artsy Closet, for we have a fabulously on-trend dress that boasts the very colour that’s got the world talking.

Our temptations dress, featuring a flattering v-neck shape, tiered skirt, drawstring waistband and cool off-the-shoulder sleeves, is the perfect item to recreate Rachel’s hot style.

And what’s more is when you’re wearing it, you can always be sure that you’re red carpet ready!

CANADIAN BLOGGER SERIES: Amy Flying a Kite

This week, as part of our Canadian Blogger Series, we talk to Amy Nelson – founder of Calgary-based fashion blog (and one of our favourites), Amy Flying a Kite.

AC: How would you describe the fashion scene in Calgary?

AN: Not daring enough. I’d love to see more people step outside of their comfort zone here. There’s a lot of hipsters in Calgary, and some look very cute, but you can’t tell them apart. I think it would be nice to see variety, because variety is the spice of life!

AC: The end of the summer is almost here. Now that you’re done homeschooling, what plans do you have for the Fall?

AN: My Fall plan is to have no structure! I know it sounds crazy — but it’s the first time in my life that I don’t have copious amounts of homework. I’m going to spend this time pursuing all of my dreams. This includes revamping the blog, playing my banjo and finding little bits of myself along the way.

AC:What are some of your favourite spots around Alberta?

AN: The drive to Lake Louise, the candy shops in Banff, anywhere you can smell the mountain air.

AC: If you could have any career in the world, what would you want to be?

AN: A musician… a writer – or both!

AC: What tunes are you currently loving on your iPod?

AN: The Dying Cowboy by Frank Fairfield, T for Texas by The Felice Brothers, Fishing Blues by Henry Thomas.

AC: If you could meet one person (dead or alive), who would it be?

AN: I’d like to meet my Grandmother, Margaret. She died before I was born and my middle name is in honor of her.  I’d give anything to keep her company while she baked in the kitchen. I’ve heard she could make the best cinnamon buns!

AC: Who is your style icon?

AN: I don’t really have a style icon. My inspiration comes mostly from the clothes, colors, and fabrics I see. If something catches my eye, I can’t help but feel inspired to create different outfits with that piece.

AC: What other blogs do you follow?

AN: Mellow Mayoness, Wish Wish Wish and Strawberry Koi.

AC: What are three things most people don’t know about you?

AN: I played basketball competively until I was 16. I think cooked vegetables are gross. I feel most at home when looking at stickers in Calgary’s Chinatown.
